The territory of this province is found entirely in the Chaco sector called Chaco Austral; It has a flat and alluvial relief, with a very slight inclination from northwest to southeast. This feature becomes evident in the direction of the often rambling river courses. The soils are mostly clayey, which added to the low slope hinders the runoff of water and forms numerous marshes, estuaries and semi-permanent lagoons.
